A Great Way to Stay Connected: Google's Making Waves with It's Newest Innovation

So Google is testing its new platform right now called Google Wave. It's a very hard application to describe but I've found a great video that sums it up pretty nicely. It's more or less an updated version of email that allows multiple users to see a universal document. Obviously it would be great for business, but I'm thinking it'd be a great way to stay up to date with different groups or organizations too. I know I'm in a soccer league and it'd be great to use Google Wave to communicate games, schedules, plans, etc. Also, I like to stay in constant communication with my KA pledge class and sometimes emails get lost. This could help. Check out the video below, and let me know if you think Google is gonna make waves with this platform.

New Social Media Statistics: A Little Drawn Out, but Fascinating Nonetheless.

There have been numerous videos promoting the newest batch of social media statistics. This is the most recent, created for Fall of 2009. It's a pretty interesting video with some cool graphics and animation. I recommend watching at least the first 2-3 minutes. I think some of the information may surprise you.

Turn Yourself Mad | No, I Swear It's Fun!

Hopefully some of you guys watch Mad Men on AMC. For those who don't it's a television show about the 1960's New York City Ad world. I, among many others, recommend the show, but for those who don't have the time for show, I still recommend checking out MadMen Yourself. It's a simple platform that lets you design an animated version of yourself with tons of different clothes, accessories, and backgrounds. Weather you're a suit or a skirt, you should have fun playing around with this program.

A Different Slide of Me: Integrate/Advertising - A Visual Introduction to Social Media

Hey guys,

So the other day I found this really cool site called Slideshare. Basically, it lets professionals post their powerpoint slideshows and allows users to read and rate them as they please. They also host contests each year for the best slideshow. It's a pretty cool site where I actually found some of the most interesting documents on the internet.

Below is my first attempt at a slideshow. I modeled it after some of the best ones that I saw on the wesbite. I'm basically calling it an attempt at a Visual Introduction to Social Media. It talks a little bit about Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin and gives a few basics on what it takes to be a social media success. Get personal, get honest, and get out there.

I'll be adding more to this in the next few weeks, but here is a peep at the rough draft coming in at about 20 slides.
